During my freshman year of college, my roommate and I decided that it would be pretty dismal to spend the greater part of December in a dingy dorm room without any Christmas decorations, so we walked to a nearby thrift shop and invested in cheap lights and stockings and vintage glass balls which we hung from a string of lights in front of our window. The effect was perfect for our room and we called it our “ghetto Christmas.” I remember sitting enchanted in the dim, sparkle-lighted room watching Amelie and knitting a fluffy scarf, thinking how simple and beautiful everything was.
So now I’ve created a Thrifted Ornament Swap and I’m inviting you to join in. You have until the 31st of October to sign up and until November 25th to send your partner $5 worth of vintage Christmas ornaments and a Christmas card. It’s lots of fun and very simple. Just go here for more details and to join!

I LOVE vintage ornaments . In fact I was fortunate enough to inherit some from my MIL when we helped her move just a few weeks ago. Always nice to have a good way to display them. I remember my grama have hers on a little silver tinsel tree when I was small. I see they are selling something like that in the stores again. I may need to get one??
